Murciélago LP 640

In March 2006, Lamborghini unveiled the first revision of the Murciélago Coupé at the Geneva Motor Show named the Murci�lago LP 640. The new title included now an alphanumeric designation which indicats the engine's orientation (LP, Longitudinale Posteriore) and the updated power output of 640 hp. The 12-cylinder engine was revised and the displacement increased from 6.2 to 6.5 liters. Cylinder heads, camshafts, crankshafts and the exhaust system have all been newly developed.

The exterior received a noticeable facelift, featuring asymmetrical side air intakes, with the left side intake feeding an oil cooler and also revised front and rear fascias. The new single outlet exhaust system incorporated into the rear diffuser. Additionally modified are suspension system, programming, and clutch for the 6-speed "e-Gear" automated manual transmission with launch control. Interior seating was re-configured for greater headroom. A new stereo system formed part of the updated dashboard. Optional equipment included ceramic composite brakes, a glass engine cover, chrome paddle shifters.
