Murciélago

The Murciélago is an all-wheel drive sports car with a V12 mid-engine, successor to the Lamborghini Diablo and flagship of the automaker's lineup. The first 65 Lamborghini Murciélago were produced in 2001, all with the vehicle's most spctecular scissor doors. In this first version of the model series, the engine had a displacement of 6.2 liters (compared to the 6.0 liter engines of the last Diablo produced). The manufacturer's first complete new design in eleven years, the car was also the brand's first new model under the ownership of parent company Audi.

The rear differential is connected with a viscous coupling to the centre differential transferring power to the front wheels. The total power distribution is 70 percent at the rear and 30 percent at the front. Power is delivered through a 6-speed manual transmission and on later versions "e-Gear" automated manual transmission with launch control was available. The suspension uses an independent double-wishbone design. The Murciélago was built and delivered almost unchanged until the first facelift in 2006.
